Helping you to get your life back

What is Hypnotherapy?

In my experience the great majority of people are fearful of hypnotherapy. They confuse stage hypnosis with hypnotherapy and are frightened of taking a step into the unknown, of relinquishing what they see as control of their lives and giving that control to a stranger. I can personally identify with that fear because before I discovered the benefits of hypnotherapy, I firmly believed that loss of control over my life was a real possibility and that, even if hypnosis had some value, I was too strong minded to be hypnotised. I was so wrong on both counts!

It was the experience of a close friend who had trained to be a therapist who convinced me to take the first step. At that time I had a number of phobias, which were beginning to have a serious effect upon my life. Panic attacks were preventing me from driving, a chronic fear of dentists and a fear of heights, which meant that I could not climb a stepladder or take advantage of air travel without heavy sedation. Whilst discussing these issues my therapist friend posed the question,

"With all of these phobias do you really think, that at this moment, you are in control of your life?"

There could only be one answer. No!

In that moment of realisation I took the first step in a direction which was to dramatically change my life for the better. My friend explained that effective hypnotherapy rather than taking away control puts the individual back in charge of their life and in my case this is exactly what happened.

Whilst experiencing complete and wonderful relaxation I undertook a journey of discovery re-examining past events in my life, which were continually resurfacing as the cause of my problems. Under hypnosis I dealt with these events so effectively that I became what I describe as a new person. I was so totally amazed at the life changing effects of such a short period of hypnosis, that I trained as a Master Clinical Hypnotherapist with the intention of helping others to release themselves from their own difficulties.

I now positively enjoy air travel, have been on the London Eye‚ drive without fear of panic attacks and use self-hypnosis when visiting the dentist.  My dentist is so overwhemed with the positive changes in me that he now introduces me to his nervous patients. I have since worked successfully with a number of his referrals with the same amazing results. .

What is Hypnotherapy like as an experience?

The therapy is undertaken in a quiet and calm environment and the process involves the client experiencing pure and wonderful relaxation. Clients are totally aware of what is going on around them and in their immediate environment, they feel very relaxed but not asleep. In this condition and through suggestion and interaction with the therapist, a wonderful journey of exploration into the subconscious mind is undertaken. The purpose of this journey is to search through past experience for the source of the problem. Once identified the problem can be examined - and with the complete agreement of the client  - subtle changes can be made which lead to the establishment of new, more positive, pattern of behaviour.

It is safe to say that the process is a relaxing and illuminating experience for the client. Identifying the source of a problem can be achieved in just one session, but this varies from client to client.

Regression Hypnotherapy

Age Regression is often used in hypnotherapy, when we access the subconscious mind it is possible to go back to an early experience or childhood event. This may have created a particular ongoing problem or a negative belief. During regression, this memory can be re-visited and re-examined by the adult mind, usually this emotional block will be released allowing the client to gain new insight and awareness.

Past Life Regression through hypnotherapy is a topic of great interest which has attracts debate as to whether we can really access previous incarnations or whether such experiences are purely products of our imagination. Whatever your beliefs, or your experiences during a past life regression session, when guided by a qualified hypnotherapist this is a safe and often healing therapy. Your recollections might not be completely accurate, as with dreams but they can offer new insights and bring about wonderful physical, mental and emotional benefits.
